Minor Axis Countersheet
Folks,
I have an old idea and I'm trying to convince Mike B. to go for it.
I sent him two years ago a mail suggesting him to produce a countersheet that would complete the OOB of Minor Axis in the Eastern Front.
He kind of liked it but postoponed the decision.

More or less the countersheet would have the following content:
Units from Italy , Finland, Hungary and Romania. They would complement existing OOB supplied in Eastern Front, Road to Berlin, Fronte Russo and Artic Front.

Italy: there would be counters to be aded to the Fronte Russo collection. Blackshirts leaders and support weapons, units included in Little Saturn and may be a few more.
Hungary: hungarian armor from 1944-1945, hungarian armor of the second hungarian army fighting in the Don bend in 1942-1943 and a few more for 1941 offensive
Finland: PZIV, and whatever needed
Romania: For possible use in Uranus operation and in 1943-1944 fightings.

...what do you think about it?

It's always been my kind of thing. I'm not so sure Finland needs a lot more. Hungary is certainly under done. The CCNN support already exists, but only as a largely forgotten download. This would also open the door to late war Hungarian-Romanian battles.

Otto,

According to Larry, I think Mike has a plan to do (another) box-set on the Romanians. From what I can gather, as well as expanding their OOB and modernising the INF in 44/45, a lot of it would be from the 'Panzer Lion' series. Maybe, dependent on what Larry can confirm, that would be an opportunity for more Hungarians and the like ? Maybe some Bulgarian anti-partisan troops as well !

Anyway, I still want some Belgians & Norwegians and a 1940 expansion !

Yes, on the back burner is a boxed Romanian set...probably very far back. Mike discouraged me from buying additional countersheets from EFD because more and better would eventually be coming.

Long ago I started some additions to the Hungarian arsenal.

I still have 39M Csaba, 38M Toldi, 38M Toldi II, 38M Toldi IIA, 40M Nimrod, & 43M Zrinyi on my eventual to do list. An there are both Romanian TACAMs to do. Why don't we start making some of our own quasi-modules, rather than waiting for Mike B. to get around to it? That is what goes on with V&V.

Actually the second hungarian army had also PZIVF1 (or E ... short barrel anyway) and a few PZIVF2. ... there was also a Marder platoon (with a German crew if I'm not wrong).

I turned in some scenarios from mixed units that had Hungary: hungarian armor from 1944-1945, once but it was from Strange & Unusual Armor Vehicles, not sure if it will see the light of day.

Very nice counters, can you put it in a format so we can copy it and so it will have both sides of the counters? Want a 43M Zrinyi and Turan II for sure.

I wouldn't mind making a few of those counters for myself! Smile

RE: Minor Axis Countersheet
I think the Hungarians got 30-35 PzIVe or f1 tanks in 1942, they got 60 some later models in 1944. I just never got around to the early Pz IV's for them. The Tiger counter was just because it was a Tiger (I think they only had 3, certainly not as many as 10). They also had 120 or so CV35 tankettes.

Both sides have been done on the counters, just no ID's yet.

As to whether I would buy it, just take a look at my tag line...

Peter,

You really are a counter-monster and must apply for a paid job at APL when you retire. I believe, from a source that when and if the Romanian set were put out for sale, there are TACAM's in that set.
