The river rule, once more.

RE: The river rule, once more.
Yeah, I read that too. My "problem" comes in with the paying of the MP cost in minor rivers. I WAS just trying to see if there was some agreed upon "magic number" that could be applied, and, hence, be standardized. Apparently, there is not, therefore i will "denote" a set of "fall back" numbers, and play them accordingly.

Thank you all for your input.

Why is that a problem?

If your question is about exiting river MP costs, there is none. MP costs are for entry of a river hex (see Terrain Charts). To exit (and cross), you might have to roll (if crossing a major river) and then pay normal MP costs for the hex entered. The crossing unit has to stop in the first hex entered, whatever.

RE: The river rule, once more.
OK. I see where my overly logical mind wanted to put a movement penalty into the crossing of a minor river where none exists. (At least according to the rules as written.) But there IS a movement penalty for major rivers. This is as written, so let it be done.

My overly logical mind, however (...and here we go again) deems it a bit ridiculous to have no (or very little penalty) for passing through a minor river (as compared to a creek, for instance). Seems to me that there would be a lesser penalty for going through a minor river than a major river. But that is just me.

Blackcloud is correct. Check the PG TEC for the movement cost for moving across minor rivers.

That's why there are no crossing numbers in that scenario instructions that you cite.

Don, I'm not sure, but are you asking what the movement cost is to drive along the river, as in the mud and reeds? If so, the cost is the same as entering the river hex from any other.

Minor River Foot=2, Mot.=Nope, Mech=4
Major River Foot=2, Mot.=Nope, Mech=4

That seems reasonable.
