A lost empire, an April Fool joke, and bad idea once met together in the back of a bored mind. Oh yeah, Otto suggested it a while back too. I am assuming that Italian ingenuity overcame the techincal problems. Blah, de blah, de blah, now get on with it!
The transport elephants are prime movers, just like in the Dog Days GJ. MG elephants are cavalry units. A couple suggested rules for elephants.
1. Elephants have a movement of 2, charging or stampeding elephants have a movement of 3.
2. Elephant MG units may charge, like cavalry.
a. Elephant MG units may not charge unless within 3 hexes of their target.
b. An assault with charging elephant MG units has a +2 modifier.
3. Demoralized elephants which do not recover on their first attempt, never will. They stampede.
a.Stampeding elephants run in a random direction when they fail their recovery roll, and continue in that direction until they are killed or exit the map.
b. Stampeding elephants which enter an occupied hex, conduct an immediate assault with 5 fire points.
c. Stampeding elephants may be fired upon by either side.
d. Stampeding elephants must be moved before the owning side may pass. In the case of FoW, they move immediately.
4. Regular cavalry (horses) loose their charge bonus when elephants (either type) are in the target hex.
... More and more, people around the world are coming to realize that the world is flat!
