75mm IG and fleeing?
HI, I AM A NEW Player and little ? shy.

I just wanted to know what yall think. Or interpret . I am very familiar with wargames and there rules booklets.so I know there cld be different opinions.

SITUATION

Demoralized 75mmIG(German) in woods hex.(unlimbered)
Attempts recovery on activation .
Fails recovery.

Does the weapon unit flee ?
It's limber side has Movement Allowance of 1
It's unlimbered side has 0 movement allowance.

I am a noob to panzergrenadier but love the game and its system I own 4 of the games am excited because battle of bulge 1st edition arrives this week. This is one of my favorite systems I may be overthinking the rules sometimes.

The above situation is from..
PANZERGRENADIER ORIGINAL
Scenario 4 Tank Attack at Okhvat
I am using a mix of 4th edition and 3rd edition rules .

RE: 75mm IG and fleeing?
The rule says," It must spend its entire movement allowance moving away from enemy units toward the closest safe hex." Thus it could not use it's movement to limber. So, I think you got a dead gun. This also brings brings up the question about mobile rocket launchers, like the BM-13. I guess they would be eliminated too.

RE: 75mm IG and fleeing?
I removed the gun from play. I wasnt going to hold up the scenario but i wanted tk know the correct way for situation arising again. Lol I was thinking that to because it wld have to limber which is an moving activation. Or possibly be limbered already.

Thank u for ur answer if I have more questions or anything I'll post more on the forums. It's great to see a community for this wonderful game.

PLUS . . . .

As per PG 4th Edition rules 2014 . . .

14.34 (Page 31)
If a demoralized weapon unit with a movement allowance of 0 fails a recovery attempt AND must flee, it is eliminated (the crew abandons the weapon).

1.2 Definitions (page 5)
Weapon Unit: Anti-tank, artillery, or anti-aircraft units, most of which need to be towed by a transport unit move (5.60).
