I recently installed Vassal on another computer, that runs Ubuntu Linux. Having problems, I did some googling and came to understanding that current Vassal works on Java 8, but not newer. Vassal would open, but not load a module. There was a solution available: the startup file can be modified so that path points to version 8 of Java.
