Is this legal?
The tank fires through the assault hex (a friendly tank, an enemy infantry unit and an enemy leader) at an enemy target.
In my opinion it is possible per 10.1 and 12.53.

The question is how do you interpret this sentence:

Direct Fire may be traced through empty hexes, enemy-occupied hexes, or hexes containing only friendly AFVs.

I interpret "only friendly AFVs" as the the only friendly units in the hex are AFVs, regardless of the presence of enemy units.

So it's legal from my interpretation.

Ditto, fire away!

perfectly legal. but I would worry more on the tank in the assault. one bad morale check could make it a bad day.

Now it is crystal clear.

I agree. The intent of the rule is on the friendlies only being AFVs, not on there only being friendly AFVs in the hex (no enemy).
