1938 War of the Worlds edition - JayTownsend - 06-19-2012 1938 War of the Worlds edition, I know it sounds funny but I hope this scenario does get added here, maybe in some special section or something. I enjoyed it enough to play it three times in a row, so I could add three AARs. Mike from AP was looking to make a 10 scenario supplement out of it someday. I think both Alan Sawyer who created this version passed on doing it, and so did I for now. So Mike mentioned something about doing it himself but who knows when? But if I ever did do one, I would want 3 scenarios from the 1938 period, 3 from the 1950's and 4 from the modern era, to cover the most recent movie on the subject, with M1A1 tanks and Bradley AFVs but this part would have to wait until after the Modern War series comes out. For now, I just hope this lone scenario gets added to the PG-HQ. RE: 1938 War of the Worlds edition - JayTownsend - 06-21-2012 I guess, I am the only one who likes this stuff!? RE: 1938 War of the Worlds edition - J6A - 06-21-2012 There are so many other historical (or closer to historical) things out there that this is very low on my interest list. I don't think you're the only one... this sounds like it could be a fun scenario to play. Is this the most current version? http://www.avalanchepress.com/WOW_Counters.pdf It would be interesting to see some of the modern era scenarios implemented at some point as well... hmm, happen to have any free time on your hands Jay? Jeremy RE: 1938 War of the Worlds edition - larry marak - 06-21-2012 Not only do I want the supplement, but now with the laser cutting process, Mike can actually issue it with say, a 14 to 28 counter counter tree. As he wrote a while back, he is no longer limited to trees based on an 8 1/2 by 11 sheet. Now if you can figure out a way to mount a martian beam weapon on a 1957 Ford woodie station wagon (as was done in first season War of the Worlds in the 1988-1990) we could have all 4 eras represented. RE: 1938 War of the Worlds edition - larry marak - 06-21-2012 Need to whack myself in the head now and then. Jay, this could and should be a crossover product. Scenarios can be set in the original period of the novel using the Infantry Attacks series. Not only could it include the first counters for British and French Infantry, but also scenarios covering the burning of Vienna and Paris, alluded to but not described in the novel. 1898 scenarios 1939 Grover's Mill Era 1953 Gene Barry movie era 2005 modern era (both Tom Cruise and the German clone release of the same year released by Asylum). RE: 1938 War of the Worlds edition - JayTownsend - 06-21-2012 Someday if AP ever does, there is a large time span of different War of The World material for use with Infantry Attacks-WWI, PG WWII, PG Cold War & Modern War. From before WWI to Modern War. 1938 War of the Worlds edition: 1898 scenarios 1939 Grover's Mill Era 1953 Gene Barry movie era 2007 modern era (both Tom Cruise and the German clone release of the same year). RE: 1938 War of the Worlds edition - JayTownsend - 02-19-2013 I still want to see more scenarios from this! |
