What is a good symbol for guerrillas and irregular infantry? - plloyd1010 - 03-07-2025

I'm thinking of Cuban rebels and Spanish guerrillas. That hunting horn symbol doesn't really do it for me.

I agree with you about not using the traditional, light infantry hunting horn to identify irregular formations.

Maybe try the typical, infantry cross-belts, but place a super-posed letter by insurgent/rebel/partisan nationality, e.g., a capitol C, for the Cuban guerrillas/insurectos and s capitol S, for the Spanish guerrillas?

I found this on the web:

f you're not tied strictly to NATO, US Army FM 1-02.2 has a modifier for Guerilla. "G" in the lower portion of the icon. Like the L for light units. So guerilla infantry would be the infantry main icon with G in the lower triangle.

I always go to doctrinal manuals to answer questions like that.  FM 1-02.2 usually employs NATO approved symbols.

I always go to doctrinal manuals to answer questions like that.  FM 1-02.2 usually employs NATO approved symbols.  So if you use that manual, which is easier to find than the NATO manual, you will be likely be in compliance with NATO symbology.
