Partisan and reprisals - WWYD? - Shad - 07-29-2024 Perhaps a more extreme - and realistic - version of the trolley problem... You're a partisan in Nazi-occupied territory during WW2. Your band conducts an operation successfully and the Nazis, unable to catch the perpetrators, punish the innocent locals in horrific and vastly disproportionate ways. Famous Example: Assassination of Reinhard Heydrich What do you do and why? RE: Partisan and reprisals - WWYD? - plloyd1010 - 07-29-2024 Choosing between violent resistance or not depends on the perception of reason from the other side. The Nazis where one of those groups with which a reasonable response could not be expected. Even in areas which were fairly non-violent in their resistance were subject to brutal reprisals for perceived infractions. Thus one form of resistance as opposed to another will not provide any difference in safety. Oradour-sur-Glane is a good example.
