New rules set? - Grognard Gunny - 12-30-2023 I keep seeing references to a rules reprint coming soon in AP.... the question is, is that just a reprint of existing rules or is it an annotated set of rules incorporating/explaining those discussions we have had here for a year (plus?) now. GG RE: New rules set? - treadasaurusrex - 12-30-2023 Sure would be nice if our suggestions made it into the next version (5th edition) of the PG rules. But alas, we will be only be seeing reprints of the same old 4th edition rules set that we've been playing with - and complaining about, or changing in the DIY house rules that some of us use - for years. Here's to the creation of a new edition of PG rules that incorporate the many suggestions & considerations that we've been discussing in the PG-HQ Forum! Happy New Year, fellow sufferers! RE: New rules set? - Grognard Gunny - 12-30-2023 Oh well, one can only hope. GG RE: New rules set? - cjsiam - 12-30-2023 Peter has put together an new version...which incorporates many good suggestions (AT Guns, AFV movement in clear....) I think it's on here in the house rules area. Plays well.. Nice plug, thanks Craig. The rules and charts in this post. There is a commented version of the rules too, if you care about what I may have been thinking. No changes were adopted into my rewrite without having tested in at least 3 games. I use Peters rules set as well, maybe not verbatim, I do add a house rule or two. RE: New rules set? - Grognard Gunny - 12-31-2023 Everybody has a "house rule" or two! Like opinions, excuses and assholes RE: New rules set? - Grognard Gunny - 12-31-2023 I meant that jokingly. GG RE: New rules set? - cjsiam - 12-31-2023 Happy New Year all...... GG... Peter's rules are the closest thing I've seen to a rewrite/upgrade of the full rule set... Lots clarified. And without people trying and then supporting to Dr.Mike, I don't think he has a motivation to change.... so--take a look at them, the commented version has the background on changes...I find the game much better in play and behaviors much more reasonable--mechanic issues addressed and other things.... Anyway---if you want updated rules---then you've got to try things, speak about what you want modified, and get your info to the larger group and then we have to get it all in front of AVLPress. For me and my distant Vassal world--Peters mods, with a subset of Optionals, makes a great game. (Just had a huge barrage on my entrenchment result in no impact on me, but Friendly fire bad against my esteemed opponent....love this game...) |
