Self-Play Scenario OBA question - cyberjockey - 07-26-2022 I'm getting ready to play my first scenario for the self-play path which is Scenario 1 from Invasion 1944. I was setting everything up and noticed that the Americans have off-board Artillery of 1x10 but there is not a 10 increment piece in the game piece palette. In the conclusion for the scenario it states that the only fire support they had was 4.2 inch mortars. I looked at a 4.2 mortar piece and saw it had a fire strength of 10. I saw in one post on here regarding the log files a point about dropping the OBA counters on the target hex. I was wondering if it would be alright to use the 4.2 mortar piece as sort of a proxy OBA piece for that purpose. RE: Self-Play Scenario OBA question - plloyd1010 - 07-26-2022 Not really. OBA markers are placed on the Off-board Artillery map until used. When used they are placed on the target, the attack conducted, then when one presses Shift+F, which returns OBA piece to the Off-board Artillery map and it is marked as fired. So the mortar piece will not work like an OBA piece. If you want to use 4.2" mortar, I would stick it in an innocuous place, like 1308 or 0108.Don't allow it to be shot at nor count it for stacking. Alternately, I could have create a 10 point US OBA piece and upload it by tonight. RE: Self-Play Scenario OBA question - cyberjockey - 07-27-2022 I didn't realize the OBA markers worked like that. It might be a good idea to create that piece in case other people decide to use that scenario in self play. If you do/did create that piece how would I go about getting it downloaded into the game pack so I will be able to use it? RE: Self-Play Scenario OBA question - plloyd1010 - 07-27-2022 You should be able to download the revised game package now. If that doesn't work, PM or email me and we can try something more direct. RE: Self-Play Scenario OBA question - cyberjockey - 07-27-2022 OK. I'll go check it shortly. I was just trying to do the initial setup of the units and when I went to mark a unit as dug in I noticed there is not a Dug-In marker in the game piece palette. This scenario allows German units to begin Dug-In so I was planning doing that with one unit. I'm assuming it would go in the neutral piece window where the smoke and other markers are. Thanks for the quick work on the OBA marker. Nope. Digging and Dug In are part of the status flags. Selecting the piece and pressing D moves the process forward, Shift+D goes backward. (I am assuming you are using Uber v4.) It was a quick add (AAAD already had one). I did it in such a way that it shouldn't affect current games if someone updates too soon. RE: Self-Play Scenario OBA question - cyberjockey - 07-27-2022 Yea, I realized not too long after I sent the message that it is there as a status flag. Since some of the other neutral markers in the palette are actual pieces in the physical game, I just looked for it there automatically. Once again, thanks for the quick response RE: Self-Play Scenario OBA question - cyberjockey - 07-27-2022 (07-27-2022, 09:51 AM)plloyd1010 Wrote: You should be able to download the revised game package now. Hopefully I can have the scenario done and uploaded in a couple of weeks. But since life likes to happen whether you want it to or not, it might be longer. RE: Self-Play Scenario OBA question - plloyd1010 - 07-27-2022 Glad you got it. Life happens? Whoda thunk it! |
