Crete Scenario #16 Setup Flaw - saracv3 - 03-14-2020 Be aware that PoCr #16 Late Effort has a major flaw in the setup rules. The New Zealanders are supposed to setup second in the large town (Galatais) on board #99. The Germans setup first on board #96 and any row numbered 0600 or more on board #99. It says nothing about the Germans setting up in Galatais. The town extends from 06xx to 08xx. It comprises 8 hexes. The object of the game is to capture the airfield at the other end of the map on board #96 hex 0212. This will be a tall order for the New Zealanders. They must accomplish this in 8 turns, and fight in Galatais to get through German lines. The Germans can conceivably set up in such a way as to occupy 7 of 8 hexes in Galatais. This leaves NZ with no room to set up. In reality, the battle was fought in Galatais. I don’t know what the actual positions were, but the skirmish on May 20 never made it out of Galatais. What to do here on this flaw? I propose that the Germans be pushed back to a set up row of 08xx. OR have NZ set up first. RE: Crete Scenario #16 Setup Flaw - Matt W - 03-18-2020 That sounds like a typo in the scenario. My material is currently packed away so it will take a bit to get it out. I do not have the published game so need to hold off a bit. RE: Crete Scenario #16 Setup Flaw - saracv3 - 03-18-2020 I ended up giving NZ up to row 07xx of the town. This gives them 6 of 8 hexes of the town. |
