How PG Über works - plloyd1010 - 02-13-2020 Since we are expecting a couple of academy graduates soon, a description of how the game packs work is in order. PG Über is a modular system. The Über base module has no maps and only generic pieces. Everything else comes from extensions to the base module. Those of you playing the Mentoring scenarios have already seen some of this. You need the Mentoring extension and the Minefields extension to play all 6 scenarios. When it comes to supporting a game, the extension list can be much longer. Take Arctic Front for example: [attachment=1474] Because of the long timespan and the changing allegiance of Finland, this is a big list. The Base Contents are what is required to play the full game as published by APL. The Game Pack Extras are extensions we felt would add interesting features to the game. In this case, it is the Finnish Air Force, Soviet air power, and late war Soviet leaders. Extras are not required to play anything. They just provide the player with alternatives and enhancements. Especially for the Order of Battle extensions, there are often catalogs and/or notes for what is contained in the extension. These can be accessed via the Documentation button. For example, the Finnish Nelonen. It appears as a user addition in the catalog, and there is a note about it in the Finnish Army notes. Remember that you may enable and disable extensions from the main Vassal window. |
