Fail Recovery - Flee Now or Next turn? - Dan Storm - 06-27-2017

Good Evening All;

14.0 Morale

Playing through my first PG scenario ever. Solo.

I seem to be stuck on this for some reason.

I have a Demoralized HMG in a hex with a leader.

I activate the hex. I roll for recovery moral check - and fail. I know the HMG has to flee because an enemy unit can see the HMG - and the enemy unit is close enough to inflict damage on the HMG.

My confusion / question is this:
Does the HMG have to Flee Right Now during this particular action segment - or does it flee on the next turn?

Rule 14.4 states:

Place a Moved/Fired marker on any unit that attempts recovery (whether it is successful or not), and any leader who assists a recovery attempt.
which to me indicates they are both done for the turn.

The Next Sentence Says:
A leader may not move in the same action segment in which he assists a recovery attempt, except to accompany a fleeing demoralized unit that fails to recover
Which indicates to me they Flee Now.

Apologies if I am over-complicating this one.
Thanks for the help!

Hi, Dan.  Demoralized units that fail recovery flee immediately.

The fleeing is part of the recovery check. Essentially, one of 4 things happens when you roll for recovery of a demoralized unit.

1. You removed the Demoralized marker (snake-eyes, only)
2. You flip the Demoralized marker to the Disrupted side
3. You eliminate the leader (only on boxcars)
4. The unit flees
