RE: "Invasion of Germany" query - larry marak - 01-22-2014 Yikes, out-of-house printing. I'll do 12 Hail Shad's as penitence. If you are going to make a joke about a religious practice, at least get it right. Just put the compost in and put the seat down. Ok. I am done with the backwoods humor. RE: "Invasion of Germany" query - larry marak - 01-23-2014 My sincere apologies to anyone whom I may have offended with my above pun. I respect all sincere believers whatever their faith or affiliation. Whilst it is tiresome to hear constantly the secularization and usurpation of sacred things (e.g. "Hail Mary Pass"), I'm afraid, Larry, that you were mostly the victim of having been "spotted" and subjected to opportunity fire. Sorry about that. PY RE: "Invasion of Germany" query - Poor Yorek - 01-31-2014 (01-20-2014, 08:19 AM)tlangston28 Wrote:(01-20-2014, 02:23 AM)rerathbun Wrote: Just looked through my copy of IoG. It has 50 scenarios, not 48, and includes all of the scenarios from Aachen 1944, North of Elsenborn, Roer River Battles, Siegfried Line and West Wall. All: My IoG just arrived ... happy to say in the same calendar year as ordered. Based on rerathbun's file, it would appear that APL simply truncated the full 50 scenario IoG by lopping off the last two (Scenarios #9 and #10 from Siegfried Line) to give the new total of 48. There are sixty-four pages and the cover art is as depicted on Site (the Hurtgen Forest). PY First Sergeant (select) RE: "Invasion of Germany" query - Poor Yorek - 01-31-2014 ^ PS In this new IoG under Special Rules #15 Strongpoints, strongpoint pieces are now stated to be drawn from Cassino '44, yet the draw selection still explicitly mentions placing "all six strongpoint pieces in a cup ..." as though referring, presumably, to the Airborne mix: Cassino has more than six strongpoints. So either they wanted to "update" the strongpoint draw to Cassino, but just failed to update the language regarding the counter draw procedure or someone inadvertently modified the reference from Airborne to Cassino. RE: "Invasion of Germany" query - vince hughes - 01-31-2014 If the SSR 15 says take them from Casino, then for your edition, I'd say go with that. On the downloads, each one is different. Some are Airborne and some are Cassino. The scenarios themselves I think indicate where the counter-mix is taken from. You might even find that as you use each scenario yourself. I doubt very much whether they have been edited to co-exist with the opening SSR-15 RE: "Invasion of Germany" query - Poor Yorek - 02-01-2014 Quote:The scenarios themselves I think indicate where the counter-mix is taken from. Leftenant, Sir, the record is disjointed! For example, IoG3/NoEl1 and IoG8/NoEl3 mention neither Cassino nor Airborne in the Scenario "Notes" as sources for the strongpoints. Oddly enough, IoG19/NoEl5 and IoG14/NoEl9 cite Edelweiss as the strongpoint source. For IoG10/NoEl5, the original "notes" are explicit regarding Airborne but change in IoG to Edelweiss. Go figure. The original NoEl SSR 15 explicitly cites Airborne With the new IoG it seems that the default is intended to be Cassino, but there is still a mixture of citations in the individual scenarios (I do not own either Airborne or Eidelweiss so it is unclear to me what is distinctive regarding their strongpoint mix). Quote:You might even find that as you use each scenario yourself. We E-8's have been known to be taught to read. My post was based on having played through NoEl using the original supplement and, now, comparing with the new IoG. |
