RE: Tanks or no tanks? - Tony M - 08-31-2023 I watched some people playing ASL at a convention in Michigan years ago and decided it was not for me. I could not understand the appeal of such a system. It seemed like you spent so much time trying to navigate through the rules you never got to think about tactics and the story the game is supposed to be telling. RE: Tanks or no tanks? - cjsiam - 08-31-2023 I don't recall an ASL modifier from stacking a 40m hex with lots of units......so a single Squad, versus a platoon...same damage profile... I could be wrong, it's been years....but they stare down at me from the shelf...... Anyone know if there is a "dense stacking" modifier? cj RE: Tanks or no tanks? - Blackcloud6 - 09-04-2023 Yes, there are penalties in ASL for exceeding stacking limits. It is rule A5. RE: Tanks or no tanks? - cjsiam - 09-04-2023 So is there something like the 3units +1 column DF in PG? I just remember the huge stacks with their extra LMGs adn -2 officers making me constantly unhappy.... moving with abandon as a group... arragh... ASL is easy... people just think it is hard. RE: Tanks or no tanks? - Blackcloud6 - 09-06-2023 (09-04-2023, 11:24 PM)cjsiam Wrote: So is there something like the 3units +1 column DF in PG? No, the penalties apply only when exceeding stacking limits. There is a doctrine in ASL: Move by stacks, die by stacks. The good players spread out their forces and avoid stacks. |
