Saipan 1944

Yes Saipan is the newest PG game coming out very soon!

I am very pleased AP allowed me to design this game. To tell you the truth, I presented a list of different titles not really thinking much of Saipan as one of my main topics, but Mike picked Saipan and after reading about the battle, I found it to be the best Pacific Battle to model. Not only the size and the fact that it lasted a little over three weeks but it included amphibious landings, a Japanese counter landing attempt, Tank vs. Tank battles, more than one. Also it has the biggest banzai attack of the war, urban fighting and jungle-hills-caves-sugarcane fields to battle in. Many new types of units, including Flame-throwing tanks, amphibious AFV’s & landing-craft, Heavy guns/artillery for both the Japanese and the American forces. With over 60 plus Japanese tanks on the large island, it’s not all about Infantry. New Marine support Rocket Trucks show up, to name a few of the new unit types.

Also, there were three separate American divisions fighting at the same time on Saipan. I never focus day after day in the same area but a little taste of each battle going on in Saipan within the larger battle, to keep the scenario flow interesting. The Americans have both Marine & Army divisions battling Japanese Army and SNLF forces. I read or bought 9 books on the subject and read over some internet sources as well. Many of these sources conflicted with each about unit numbers, locations, times and so on but after read enough accounts I was able to start to putting the pieces of history together in the best historical way possible.

This has so many different types of scenario situations, that all PG gamers should find Saipan 1944 interesting.

Thanks to Mike and AP for allowing this great title to get published and John for helping in the Development of a sure to be excellent PG game in the Pacific! It’s just all around cool!

BTW, I'm not in the Gold Club (was when it first started), so it looks like these are now available for anyone to order.

So the maps are historical or generic.

Generic but with a touch of Saipan terrain as what I have been told but I haven't seen them yet.

Joe, I think Gold-Club members have first crack at it.
