The SPW-251/9's antitank strength should be 4-4 with a direct fire value of 10-5 reduced to 5-5. The Russian train was originally in a scenario but Doug eliminated it when he cleaned the scenario up. With splitting the game apart it fell though the cracks. Thanks, Mike

No problem there...but how late in the Great Patriotic war were armoured trains still used offensively by the Soviets?

That is as late as I know of as the Russians make no mention of them but one of the Tiger Company's diary does.
Thanks, Mike

RE: any questions on south flank?
Apparently two armored trains are being used in counter-insurgency combat today in the Russian north Caucuses region!!

Maybe we will see them again if Modern PG produces a what if of a Soviet/Chinese war in the late 68's. There was some combat at that time and the Soviets lost 5 afvs to the Chinese. Quite a few armored trains were sent over that way to defend the Trans Siberian railroad from Chinese incursions had full blown war brokent out.

Here is my question, Mike.

Over on BGG one of our PG guys by the name of ericmwalters has posted the following comment for K-SF:

Quote:...The Germans are purely SS; nowhere do we see the other regular Ostheer formations such as the Gross Deutschland Division, the 11th Panzer Division, or the 3rd Panzer Division. The scenarios are purely constructed around the II SS Panzer Corps. ... Despite this, one hopes for an expansion booklet and counters to cover the other regular German Army divisions...

Are there other German formations coming in North Flank?
What was the reasoning behind this focus?
Do you have expansion plans marinating in that genius brain of yours? Big Grin

I can answer that for Mike. All the SS formations are in South Flank and all the regular army formations are in North Flank.

(showing my ignorance of history here) Is that a design decision, or is that how it happened in 1943? If the former, what was the benefit of splitting them? easier to do the counters?

All of the above. Mike said that the SS conveniently dominated the action on the south flank, thus allowing us to put all SS units into KSF and all Heer units into KNF. Had we put SS and Heer in KSF it would have necessitated an additional countersheet, which would have increased production costs and thus the price of the game.

Sounds like scenario book fodder for Heer units from K: NF fighting as Gross Deutschland PzGD, and 3rd and 11th PzD in soutern front scenarios

The Herr units operating in the south will be well represented in North Flank. The title does cause confusion. Thanks, Mike
