Nice to have: Map labeling
I like to put town names and other references on the map.  These give just a bit more historical context.  A nice-to-have feature would be a map label ability to type in text to put on the map without it having a background.   This might have a practical use of annotating certain features needed for play as well.  Right now, I use the User Terrain Mod marker, but it covers the whole hex and that can cause issues of blocking terrain especially near a town.

An interesting idea. It would be hard to implement with 200+ map images. How about an unmovable label? it would get fixed on the map and get aligned like the illumination rounds.

The unmovable label would work.  That is essentially what is being used with the User Terrain Mod marker.  It might be as simple as duplicating the User Terrain Mod marker without having the map image behind it.
