Bocage movement
I find it a little "hard to take" that there seems to be no "penalty" for moving through Bocage hex sides. Am I missing something or is it "written that way" in the rules for a purpose.

To wit: Given the toughness of the Bocage Country it would seem to me that the infantry units would have to pay, say, a +1 movement penalty for crossing them.

Whaddya think?

..... and, now that I think about it, any other "hedgerow/bocage" hex side containing game.

Lots of maps have small amounts of hedges, but the hedgerow heavy games are Airborne & its 2 updated releases, and Beyond Normandy. You can view the maps in the library section.

Airborne had the most restrictive rules for them.

Please see Terrain in the advance rules on page on page 8 for bocage hexsides effects.

So, you're saying that there is no generic rule for hedgerows, and that there are different rules for them in different games? If so, I'll wait to see what those other games bring to the table.

That is a very complicated question that I will let others answer lest I start an "old man yells at cloud" rant.

The standard bocage hexeside effects are listed under hedgerow hexside in the terrain effects chart. These rules are used unless modified in the scenario book like they are in Invasion 1944. I'm not sure but I believe the other games set in Normandy use these rules.

Thanks Mike, I didn't see those advanced rules in the booklet. (Now don't I look silly.) It explains it all and gives me peace of mind.
