Mortars Firing over Friendly Unuts?
For ever I have played that Mortars have LOS through friendly units and can fire at the the enemy. IThey are the only weapon/unit that can fire over their own units. Was this some crazy idea I invented, or is it some place in the rules? I don't see any reference now.

RE: Mortars Firing over Friendly Unuts?
As far as I understand, the restriction of NOT firing through hexes containing friendly units only applies to direct fire, see 7.24. Machine Guns are an exception though, see 10.1. Concerning LOS, units do not block it (the relevant section is 8.4, units are NOT mentioned as blocking LOS).

Any unit that fires bombardment can fire over friendly units. Units do not block LOS. They do block LOF for direct fire units, with exception, according to rule 10.1.
