Is 12 the Maximum Result in Morale?
Why does this question matter? Let’s Say a M2 affects a leader rated 10. A roll of 11 occurs. The adjusted result is potentially 13. Then the leader would become demoralized or worse.

Or could a 13 occur. So far, I have been playing that 12 is the maximum result.

that's interesting....
I don't resolve it that way....

So---he is a 10.....meaning he has to roll 10 or less to pass.
The M2 takes it to 8.....meaning he has to roll 8 or less to pass....

he rolls an 11...so he does not pass, and it is 3 more then his modified morale value (8) so he is demoralized....

So I modify the morale of the unit (The unit makes an M2)....not the roll of the die...

Why? There is no rule that says 12 is a maximum result. Only that 10 is the maximum morale. So your morale 10 leader is disrupted on a roll 9 or 10 (add 2, and demoralized on a 11 or 12.

He's doing DR + Modifier > Morale

You're doing DR > Morale - Modifier

It's the same thing in the end. Smile

Also, same with Peter, there's nothing in the rules to cap morale. It ends up where it ends up after all DRMs.

14.5 Maximum MoraleFor the purpose of making a morale check or recovery roll, no unit or leader may use an adjusted morale value greater than 10 due to any combination of bonuses or circumstances.

Commutative property of Addition you mean?
And I think the 14.5 means that 10 is the BEST morale value you could get......
(I've seen 11 morale officers in some counter sheets----so ....with V4.   they still roll as 10---but can suck up subtractions better.....
for an 11 officer: A clean roll is <= 10 pass (11 disrupted!)
                         An M1 <= 10 pass
                         An M2 <= 9 pass

So the 11 helps---but you still have a 1/12th chance to disrupt.

Interesting that a 10 leader NEVER demoralizes on a clean roll.....
