Leader Combat Modifier Question:6.1 Combining Fire
So: 6.41 Combining Fire

Units in different hexes may not combine their fire values into one attack without the aid of a leader. An activated, good-order leader with a combat modifier of "1" may combine the Direct or Bombardment fire values of units in his hex plus one adjacent hex. An activated, good order leader with a combat modifier of "2" may combine the Direct or Bombardment fire values of units in his hex plus two adjacent hexes. He MAY NOT combine Direct and Bombardment fire into one attack. Leaders can combine fire and add their modifiers during Opportunity Fire as well (13.0).

Does this mean Leaders can combine fire AND add their modifiers during Direct Fire?
Stack 1 has [3] Combat Units with a DF of  3 each = 9.
Adjacent Stack 2 has [3] Combat Units with a DF of  4 each = 12 and a Leader with a CM of 1.
Total FP of Combat Units = 21.
Total FP of Combat Units AND the Leader = 22.
Do the [2] stacks combined with the leader fire on the 22 Column or do they fire on the 16 column?

I would have done the description with stack 2 being first, because that is where the leader is that starts everything. Anyhow, the short answer is yes, and the attack would be on the 22 column.

And thus, with the step loss incurred by this DF did Gunga-Din the Punjabi commander roll 2 on leader loss....leaving a legacy of stopping the wave of
Italian colonials for 10+ turns....

Better man then I, Gunga Din.....

Peter is correct.

Keep in mind that stacking 3 combat units in a hex makes them more vulnerable to Direct Fire and Bombardment Fire. The extra firepower the third unit brings is nice but it comes at a risk.

Not least of which is the threat of an aneurysm brought on by rolling 7's having taken such trouble to create aforementioned stacks.   Sad

Said commander Gunga-Din and his men did reduce 3 of those dense 3 unit stacks to demoralized mobs at different times
as they approached his hill entrenchment
--thus his legacy....
including decapitating the italian command as well...

You're a better man then I, Gunga Din....
