Assault frustration

RE: Assault frustration
OK, I'm 11 turns into the 20 turn second scenario of Invasion 44 and the Americans have approached Couvains and started firing on it. They took two hours to clear Les Fresnes of the Heer 8/6 morale troops and did by firepower. So it looks like that will work for clearing out the towns, by shooting them up completely before moving in. So I want to ask how should other nations deal with towns and entrenchments?

RE: Assault frustration
My memory is hazy, but at some point either in Daily Content, optional rules, or somewhere there was an encirclement rule spelled out that lowered the defenders' morale if they could not trace a hex route back to their own territory. So if you actually encircled a town on the map it had an appropriate affect on the defenders.

Perhaps someone with a better memory than I can find the link. I never used that rule but I remember admiring its thinking...
