I believe Vince might need an intervention. The Olympics are really getting to him.

Having experienced the games in Los Angeles and then in Calgary, Vince will need help when the games are over. The games bring a strange euphoria that fills you with an innver glow. After the torch goes out you fill empty inside.

I just hope Vince has laminated the Tiger 2 counters for their protection

RE: Tiger II
after the Sydney games the volunteers wore their uniforms in public for years like a badge of honour. it eventually got a bit weird.
Only recently have i stopped seeing the same thing for the 2006 commonwealth games volunteers in melbourne.
I hated the games, made it take longer for me to get places and generally inconvenienced me, and being the commonwealth games there wasnt much sport in it, 2 weeks of running jumping and swimming and at the end australia wins. gets boring for us after a while. at least in the olympics there is some competition.

Actually, I can not wait for the Games to BUGGER OFF !

They are seriously inhibiting my personal and social life. Policing them for 12 hours a day what with all the travelling added on too will only give me about 7 hours to myself each day to get food, sleep and god forbid PG in !!

RE: Tiger II
Beijingers hated it in 2008, for what it's worth.

You can try and imagine what it was like for locals: normal Olympic police presence x authoritarian state police apparatus x state's desire to "prove" it has arrived...

My parents get to suffer through the Republican National Convention this year. Regardless of your political affiliation, having those conventions come to town - especially if it's not the incumbent party - is a nightmare.

RE: Tiger II
I was interested to note that there are no Tiger IIs in "Winter Soldiers" scenarios #5 or #11, as at least 6 of them ended up in and around La Gleize, covering the northeastern to southeastern approaches.

The following excellent website has all the details! See the map on this page:
http://www.ss501panzer.com/Battle_21-25_Dec.htm

I am tempted to include one Tiger II counter in a static (out of fuel) position in one of the eastern hexes of the village on Board 10. Has anybody tried this? Does it make the scenarios too unbalanced?

Tim

It gets even worse Shad, Bejing had "select us" billboards and slogans posted prominently from 2000 on. When they didn't get the 2004 games, they just increased the hoopla.

Great city to vacation in by the way. Chairman Mao lies in state for public viewing 5 minutes walk from a 3 story KFC with the best dipping sauces on earth!
