In short then, if a STACK is activated the units thereof can pretty much do pretty much anything they want within the rules. This is how I have done it thus far, hoping that it was the correct way. This seems to be the correct way AND it makes sense.

Best of both possible worlds.

But, if that stack is in an Assault hex, and they all leave in the Action Segment---they take a free shot...

eventually we get back to the question... Smile

Does this make sense: 1) Demoralized units in a hex (assault or otherwise) immediately try to recover, if not they flee (full movement factor) AND the free shot is taken as they run away (But only in the case of assault). 2) Other units in a hex, not demoralized, may or may not leave the hex under assault, IF they leave, it is only for one hex AND they take the "Parthian shot". 3) Leaders can go along with either type, in accordance with the rules.

Does that cover it? (There does seem to be a bit of ambiguity in the Close Action parts of the rules.)

1) No. They don't automatically do anything. The only thing they can do when you activate them is attempt to recover though. They will flee if they fail. The free shot is only taken if there are no remaining friendly units in the hex. This is why we keep making the distinction of attempting recovery together or individually.

Additionally, they still only flee to the adjacent hex, the same as an undemoralized unit exiting the assault hex. They only flee with full movement once outside of the assault hex.

2) Yes, but this is only true if they all leave during the same activation, same as with the fleeing Demoralized units. If there is a remaining friendly unit in the hex, then there is no free shot.

3) Leaders can move with units, but if the leader is disrupted and is moving with a fleeing demoralized unit, it too will become demoralized.

Yeah, once I thought about the above post I put in, it seemed wrong. Your take on it seems better.
