RE: How should PG-HQ count scenario plays for player stats - Shad - 05-26-2022

This morning I ran a preliminary test on the records history to compare the impact of moving from 1 play counted per scenario to 1 play counted per side (1, 2, or solo) per scenario.

Impact Summary:
  • 287 members have recorded at least 1 play
  • 67 of those would be impacted by this change
  • 14 of those would get credit for more than 3 additional plays:
    • 12 new plays for JayTownsend and Matt W
    • 11 new plays for Adepss1
    • 9 new plays for enrique, plloyd1010, and Michael Murphy
    • 8 new plays for mike perryman
    • 5 new plays for waynebaumber and Schoenwulf
    • 4 new plays for campsawyer, joe_oppenheimer, Hugmenot, Brett Nicholson, and a player who has chosen to delete their account some time ago
All of the above is incorrect. See subsequent post for details.
As for whether any of those bonus plays result in immediate rank changes, I guess we'll find out on June 1st. Wink

I'll make the back-end code changes over the weekend.

In my case, I just expect to be resargeified.

Thank you. I think this is a really positive move.

@plloyd1010 that sounds painful...

I'm glad I used preliminary in the original post because those numbers were wrong. I was counting the winning side rather than the player's side by mistake.

Updated number are as follows:

Impact Summary:
  • 287 members have recorded at least 1 play
  • 31 of those would be impacted by this change
  • 7 of those would get credit for more than 3 additional plays:
    • 10 new plays for Brett Nicholson and Matt W
    • 9 new plays for waynebaumber
    • 7 new plays for plloyd1010
    • 5 new plays for Hugmenot and Schoenwulf
    • 4 new plays for Dan_Huffman

Which passes the sniff test, because in the previous calc you were getting credit for playing a scenario solo more than once and having a different side win, which explains Jay getting a bunch of new plays when he's almost exclusively a solo player. The people listed above are all active head-to-head players which is who this ranked calc benefits.

Anyway, there you go!

Maybe this will help the Competitive Ladder. Now you get credit for each play.

Is there a timeframe for when online VASSAL shared-players like Peter L. and Wayne B. get their retroactive additional plays added to their totals? For example, I think that Wayne is due 9 more plays as indicated in your preliminary note.
