One other word on the Lib maps. How nice would it have been had they matched either FoF or ER. Chance missed (as usual).

well deserved,... you both carried out poor reconnaissance!

The maps are dark.
Counters are OK.

Used some counters from Cassino '44 for bookkeeping.

For me, the REAL problem is that these maps do not look like Normandy ! Not at all. They are too dark, aswell.

So, once I'm done the current battle game of KWCA that I'm playing, I was thinking of switching to Liberation 1944. I hadn't opened it in a while, and while I don't have a real issue with the counters, the first thought on the maps was that they should have been more green. It is odd that they aren't. And I was surprised by the lack of terrain. There's a lot of scattered hedgerows, and then lots of open territory with few hills and fewer trees. That could make for some wild battles.

I can live with both component gripes (a pity that they aren't offering new counters for this one, a la Conquest of Ethiopia) , I'd probably spring for them.

And yes, it's a pain to stack the thick counters. I think it was a noble experiment gone wrong. And overall they don't bug me much.

The thick laser-cut counters are not slippery, unlike those of of Conquest of Ethiopia and Pusan Perimeter. I like them.

I got the new silky counters for both Liberation and Saipan when they were offered!

RE: Brown Liberation 44 maps - Michael Murphy - 08-03-2017

I bought my Liberation when it came out in its second iteration. The silky, smooth die cut counters all came with correct values for the known issues found in the laser cut counters. I checked all the known errata in the HQ database to be sure.

Peace. Michael
