Anzio and Other Minis Scenarios Conversion to PG - thomaso827 - 03-31-2015

One of the missing theatres in PG seems to be Italy, outside of the Casino game. Since I am both a minis and board gamer, I have the Too Fat Lardies scenario book on Anzio, and while it is at a squad level, I think it will be easy enough to convert to platoon games. I'm going to start tinkering this summer and see what I can come up with. If anyone else has the Anzio scenario book one of the things I'll be looking for is map sheet recommendations. Many of the Anzio area battles take place in pretty flat land broken up by irrigation canals, so perhaps some of the Eastern Front maps will work, using rivers as canals. Some scenarios are too small for PG scale, but a lot of them are large enough to make some good PG games. Also, I have a minis scenario book for Fallschirmjaeger actions, and it is at a platoon scale so perhaps I can do some tinkering with that as well and sort out a group of scenarios covering FJ actions from 1940 to the Bulge and beyond. A Guadalcanal scenario book seems to be well covered already in the Guadalcanal game, so it will be interesting to see how they compare to give me some more clues in converting the others.

The Gamer's did a game on part of Anzio in the Tactical Combat Series several years ago. That would have a map for terrain around the area. I think, though I could be wrong, the ground scale is about the same. I know the hexes are the smaller size so the map would have to be blown up.
