Scenario FiAx019

This scenario involves a sweep of a forested area by the Slovak Security Division. Unbeknownst to the Slovak commander one of their tank units is planning on defecting given the right circumstances.

As expected the partisan forces of the Soviets start the game in hiding and hope not to be found. The Slovaks, however, use their air and mobile units to quickly flush out most of the Soviet troops. Two initial positions are not only found but crushed quickly (the partisans have a morale of 6/5 and will run if you look funny at them.

On turn 10 however the tank of the potential defector gets close enough to the Soviets to defect. The Soviets also managed to get the initiative that turn so the tank took off to see if it could get off the playing surface in order to claim 6 VPs. Unfortunately some Slovak tanks ended the turn adjacent and rolled a ten on the next turn to destroy the defecting tanks.

Outside of the drama with the tank unit there really wasn't much going on. If the Slovaks find the partisans they will be able to win the scenario, but if the search goes bad or the Slovaks pick the wrong area to check out the woods the Soviets have a chance to win this one. It is decent to play to get a feel for a security operation, though. I give it a "2"
